Literary and arts organization Many Mountains Moving
will celebrate the re-launch of its journal, Many Mountains Moving,
with a literary festival and brunch
from 11 a.m.�3 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2004
at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.
Festivities will include a poetry slam, book fair, and reading by Kim
Addonizio, National Book Award finalist for Tell Me (2000, BOA
Editions), and author of What Is This Thing Called Love (2004,
W.W. Norton). Festival-goers will be offered a mimosa brunch buffet, with
musical entertainment by Hand in the Water and Steve Blunk.
The poetry slam, hosted by veteran emcee Phread Thaller, features
competitive rounds in which poets recite their work and are scored on
quality and presentation by judges from the audience, with high scorers
advancing to the next round. Book fair participants include area authors
Elyse Singleton (This Side of the Sky), John Latham (The
Unbearable Weight of Mercury), and Marilyn Krysl (How to
Accommodate Men), who will sign and sell their work. A limited number

Contributors to Many Mountains Moving have included Isabel Allende,
Amiri Baraka, Lorna Dee Cervantes, Allen Ginsberg, Ursula K. Le Guin,
Lawson Fusao Inada, James Tipton, and Luis Alberto Urrea. Work from the
nationally distributed journal has been reprinted in the prestigious Best
American and Pushcart Prize anthologies.
The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 1750
13th St. in Boulder. Cost for the literary festival and brunch is
$10 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
