Journal Re-launch Party!

Mark your calendars

Sunday, April 4, 2004, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at BMoCA

Literary and arts organization Many Mountains Moving will celebrate the re-launch of its journal, Many Mountains Moving, with a literary festival and brunch from 11 a.m.3 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.

Festivities will include a poetry slam, book fair, and reading by Kim Addonizio, National Book Award finalist for Tell Me (2000, BOA Editions), and author of What Is This Thing Called Love (2004, W.W. Norton). Festival-goers will be offered a mimosa brunch buffet, with musical entertainment by Hand in the Water and Steve Blunk.

The poetry slam, hosted by veteran emcee Phread Thaller, features competitive rounds in which poets recite their work and are scored on quality and presentation by judges from the audience, with high scorers advancing to the next round. Book fair participants include area authors Elyse Singleton (This Side of the Sky), John Latham (The Unbearable Weight of Mercury), and Marilyn Krysl (How to Accommodate Men), who will sign and sell their work. A limited number of places are still available for booksellers, who may call 303.545.9942 to register.

Contributors to Many Mountains Moving have included Isabel Allende, Amiri Baraka, Lorna Dee Cervantes, Allen Ginsberg, Ursula K. Le Guin, Lawson Fusao Inada, James Tipton, and Luis Alberto Urrea. Work from the nationally distributed journal has been reprinted in the prestigious Best American and Pushcart Prize anthologies.

The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 1750 13th St. in Boulder. Cost for the literary festival and brunch is $10 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
